This new text is designed to tell the story of electrophysiology so that the seemingly disparate myriad observations of clinical practice come into focus as a cohesive and predictable whole.

The first section of the book presents Dr Spector’s unique approach to understanding the fundamental concepts in electrophysiology, from ion channels and propagation to arrhythmia mechanisms and the generation of electrograms. The second half of the book describes electrophysiology as it is seen by the clinician: through electrograms, imaging, response to pacing maneuvers and electro-anatomic mapping. The book is designed to teach the mechanisms that underlie electrophysiology so that the reader can “figure out” how to solve clinical problems rather than apply memorized algorithms.

She thanks her lucky stars when he shows interest in her at their senior prom, after that they when out on few dates and on their last date they had sex, and he stop calling her she did not hear from him for an entire week, when she finally bump into him he acted like he did not know her like she did not mean anything to him, and he just broke her heart. When she went for a run through the woods towards her favorite oak tree she finds Michael on the ground with his motorbike next to him. after he open his ayes the first person that he saw was Julia and what was that for. After that accident he changes and Julia can’t wrap her head around it and yet she wants to believe that he is changed.

This book kept me on my toes through the this story, cause I just kept thinking he is gone do something and just mess everything up. Oh wow was I wrong what it did was to make me cried and yes cried like a baby.

I hope that once you read this story that you get to enjoy it and like it as much as I did.

Uh-oh...I see I will be upsetting a few people with this 2 star review of mine.

Have you ever met someone for the first time and in the beginning when you are first introduced, you think they are pretty cool and someone you could really like, then they start talking and you find that your nerves become a little irritated, then they have mannerisms that just get under your skin and by the end of the night, you notice every little thing that is wrong with them and the spittle that flies out of their mouth every time they speak is the last straw and if you don’t get out of their company soon, you’re bound to do them bodily harm and probably spend the night in jail? Yeah, that can pretty much sum up my encounter with The Boy from the Woods and it’s painfully obvious, we just weren’t meant to be friends. The blurb sounded so promising and I was looking forward to reading this, but after a few chapters, I wanted to be put out of my misery and by the end, I was mentally unfriending and blocking this book from my friend book list.

I have this memory of when I went to the theater to see the movie, The Village by M. Night Shyamalan and about midway into the movie, I remember leaning over and whispering to my friend, “this movie would be so dumb if it’s all actually taking place in the present time, but for some reason, they are living like the Amish in some middle of the woods compound and don’t even know it!” (note: I have nothing against the Amish) So, you can imagine my reaction when the great reveal happened at the end of that movie, I was so astonished at the sheer ridiculousness of it all and the fact that I had been pretty spot on with my earlier prediction, that I was actually offended. Well, something like that kind of happened again while I was reading this. I had a moment where I thought, “I really hope that THIS is not where Ms. Minkman is taking this story!” and I’ll be darned if that isn’t EXACTLY where she went.

If you decide to read this book, you need to also be aware of a few cultural differences, because one thing I know for sure is that beer and wine were NOT on the menu at my school prom, so it’s pretty obvious that the legal age limit for drinking is a bit younger there than it is here in the states. It’s not a big deal and I wouldn’t have minded having beer and wine at my prom (legally), but just fair warning to some readers who might find stuff like that hard to grasp.

Overall, this was not a book I enjoyed and I really wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It was not just one big thing that turned me off of this book, but also several little things that all culminated together to make this a bad experience for me. The concept was there, but everything else failed in my opinion.

Boy from the Woods

So I love working with Jen and this has to be my favorite book by her yet!!!! Oh the love story of Julia and Michael is so lovely. Those two have their connection that sparks up and I really love them and have to be one of the best couples ever! Omg do not read the ending! You will cry wanting more more more more more! Seriously, Jen shouldn't have left it that way!!

Julia loves being in the woods. It's been her place, when things don't go so well, like a death or a parent's divorce. The best part of it, she can daydream of Michael, the hottest guy she has loved for over two years now. Well her friend Gabby is there and is a fun character.

Now the thing about Michael is that he used to be all nasty and then poof, he was this new guy. He was found in the woods in a serious condition, and suddenly he wasn't close to dying. He became healed and things changed. He started to take an interest in her in their senior year. He and Julia talk and they spent a night at his house, a whole dream some true. A week later and she hasn't heard from Michael since, and then they meet and he said that he was out of town and left with a kiss on her cheek. So right now you'll be yelling at Michael for what he is doing to Julia, and yes I wanted to jump in and teach him a few lessons for some more pages.

Though as the book goes on, you will change your mind and agree that they are lovey together. Michael will prove himself, so you will then yell for him to be more cute.

Julia through all of this, is just amazing. She is strong, capable, loving, smart, just fits into this story so perfectly.

I really loved this book and want to read more! I hope that this will somehow turn into a mini series. I can't stop going crazy for this book, really one of the best books I've read this year. Which is good, since I've only felt super crazy for three other books this whole year.

So I give this book 5 stars!

Do yourself a favor...

This book is a must have. Covers just about, if not, everything you need to know about Branding. Not a big fan of how Chapter 3 was written. Let's just say the Professor who wrote/contributed to Chapter 3 felt the need to flex his English skills - unecessary over the top vocabulary. Chapter 4 is the best chapter - Competitive Brand Strategies. Uber came to mind this entire chapter regarding their pioneer advantage. If you wish to have a solid grasp of Branding, do yourself a favor and buy this book.

An Invaluable Single Source of Information and Counsel

The last time I checked, Amazon and its online partner Borders sell more than 8,000 different books on the general subject of brands and brand management. Presumably this number will continue to increase as organizations become more actively involved with marketing initiatives which effectively leverage one or more brands.

What we have here is one of the volumes which comprise a series produced by faculty members at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. It was edited by Alice M. Tybout and Tim Calkins who co-authored the Preface; Philip Kotler provides the Foreword and Calkins the Introduction.

I feel obligated to suggest at the outset that none of the volumes in this series is an "easy read." On the contrary, each requires but will generously reward a careful consideration of its contents which, in this volume, are carefully organized within four Sections:

I (Chapters 1-3) Key Branding Concepts

II (Chapters 4-6) Strategies for Building and Leveraging Brands

III (Chapters 7-13) From Strategy to Implementation

IV (Chapters 14-20) Branding Insights from Senior Managers

There are five themes which are rigorously examined through the narrative: brand positioning, brand design, brand meaning, leveraging a brand, creating a brand-driven organization, and then three chapters are devoted to issues on measurement. I especially appreciate the provision of various frameworks, check-lists (e.g. the five-step process for designing a brand on page 38), "Figures" (e.g Whirlpool's Touch Point Wheel" on page 230), and other tools to assist the reader with clarifying her or his thoughts about branding in terms the specific needs and interests of his or her organization.

Although taken out of context, the following three excerpts are representative of the high quality of thinking and writing throughout this book:

"The word brand has a tripartite etymology. One emphasis clusters around burning, with connotations both of fiery consummation and of banking the hearth. A second emphasis clusters around marking, with connotations of ownership and indelibility, as well as paradoxical allusions to intrinsic essence, whether or merit or stigma. A third emphasis clusters around the delivery of, or deliverance from, danger (stoke, anneal, cauterize; conflagration, possession, aggression). The brand embodies the transformative heat of passion, properly tended. It is bestowed and it is earned. The brand bespeaks the forging of a family." John F. Sherry, Jr. on "Brand Meaning," page 41.

"There are several sources of pioneering advantage. All are derived from the pioneer's unique role in creating the category, in defining the dimensions on which brands compete, and in influencing the importance buyers attach to perceived differences. Simply put, the pioneer plays a unique role... It is perceived different from others, and that perception is valuable in several ways....A pioneer can become the standard against which later entrants are judged simply by establishing the category and being viewed as the near-ideal product. A Thorough Analysis on Branding

I picked up "Kellogg on Branding" from Amazon because my company was embarking on a branding exercise. As part of the team, I wanted to get well-versed in the theoretical and practical implications of branding and brand management. Little did I realize that I have picked up a gem.

First and foremost, this is an academic book, some of which may cause a reader to gloss over, especially if they are just looking for easy bullet point overviews. Nonetheless, I found this to be a goldmine of information.

A collection of articles and research by some of the by faculty at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University covering a range of issues. Specifically, the book covers branding concepts in the first three chapters, strategies for building and leveraging brands, strategy to implimentation, and branding insights.

I found the last chapters (14 through 20) to be the most interesting as they were written by senior executives at firms. Whether it was a discussion on there individual companies leveraged their brand, to using their brand internally, it was the more "Practical" section of the book.

Thats not to diminish the other sections of the book. In one collection we have a guide for branding in the tech sector, to managing a brand portfolio, to design and positioning. Each with a wealth of information for anyone looking at their own companies and trying to make sense of branding, brand strategy and brand management.

Needless to say, this volume armed me quite well for our branding initiatives.

Again, this is a detailed book, and not a gloss over. If you can read this with the attention to detail "Kellogg on Branding" offers, then you will be well rewarded. If not, you may want to look elsewhere.

Regardless, I highly recommend.

Worth the money and then some

Besides my day job, I teach entertainment law at the University of Washington. As such I receive lots of free books from publishers who want me to assign them as textbooks. I paid actual money for this one, and I agree with William Wilson's review: this book is an absolutely top-notch overview of a complex field. In particular, the review of music publishing is very helpful. Music publishing is an absolute nightmare of a business and the legal issues can leave you totally lost. This book covers them in a way that makes them as intelligible as possible. The only chapters I'd think are lacking are the ones on video games, but that's a very new field from a legal perspective and actually many of the issues are the same as in other entertainment fields so there are analogies aplenty.

Depending on the length of your course, I would seriously consider assigning this textbook.

It looked new but...

I ordered the Entertainment Law book from the amazon store becasue I wanted to purchase a new book, without highlights or writing in it, but I received the book with the bind holding on by the seams (literally)! Because I was so pressed for time and did not want to wait another 4-5 days to return it, I kept the book. Other than the unraveling book, the delivery was prompt and book appeared to be in good condition
