This is by far my favorite book by Lacey.

There isn't one thing I didn't love about this book. This is by far my favorite by Lacey. It will definitely be a constant on my go-to-reread pile.

Paisley suffered so much in her life that my heart broke for her. Everything she did was to please her Mom, a certified shrew of a horrible Mother. Paisley was essentially pushed into show business by her Mom. However, everything she ever wanted, true happiness and love, was finally within her grasp (including the strength to stand up to her Mom) until it was brutally taken away from her. Barrett, aka Bare, works for Paisley's Dad and is with Paisley when she awakens in the hospital. He's the first person she sees and she gets the devastating news about her loss from him.

The story picks up five years later, with Paisley visiting her Dad and seeing Bare. Paisley is just exisiting and Bare has fallen in love with her over the years as they've become close friends. Thankfully, she decides to live again and gives Bare and a HEA a chance. I liked Bare from the beginning and adored his devotion to Paisley. There's one part that I don't want to give away because I don't want to take that dreamy moment away from you, but I will say I completely fell in love with Bare in the scene where he revealed something to Paisley about his life since he met her five years ago. He solidified himself as permanent book boyfriend status at this point. I cheered and eeped in sheer joy. Lacey could've taken that a different route and I love that she chose this one. I will forever be a loyal fan because of this book and that scene. I can't wait to see what's next for the Knight's Watch. I have a feeling this will be one of my favorite series. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. I wanted to immediately reread it and nothing else caught my eye or held my attention because of a book hangover from this beautiful story. Read this. You'll love it. I know you'll want to thank me for the recommendation, so keep in mind I'm not big on chocolate or flowers. I do love Amazon gift cards though. ;-)

A Must Read!!!! Loved This Book

Paisley's life shatters around her from one event that will change everything for her. Living close to her father as she withdraws from everything she has known Paisley starts to recover and discovers that you can have a second chance at love when finally notices Bare. Bare has always been there for Paisley waiting on the side for her to grieve and be ready to move on. Their budding romance is on shaking ground though when Paisley's past comes back to life as well. This book has it all strong characters, hot sex, and some mystery. Lacey continues to draw readers into her creative world in yet another home run hot with this book. I would and have recommended this book to anyone I know that reads. You won't regret buying this book I stayed up late just so I could finish it because I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for more from this series.

Easy to read and faithful to the Catholic Church

I was given this Bible as a Christmas gift, and my initial reaction to a Bible written in contemporary English was one of skepticism. I thought that this would surely be a watered-down version of Sacred Scriptures that compromises the true meaning of God's Word for the sake of making it easy to read. After spending some time with this Bible, I am pleased to say that I was wrong. It is written in easy to read contemporary English, but still manages to convey the truth of God's Word in a way that is consistent with Catholic faith and morals. One thing I didn't like is that the deuterocanonical books were placed in a separate section at the end rather than in their traditional order among the other books. Still, I think this Bible is worth buying for anyone who wants a very readable version of Sacred Scripture that is faithful to the Catholic Church.

This bible has a great layout. Each book is preceeded by an application to real life which helps the reader understand the book he/she is about to read. At the front of the Bible there are questions that people frequently ask and Scripture sites that contain the answers to those questions. It's just great!

Readable, but a Paraphrase

A hip packaging of the "Living Bible," a paraphrase of the good old KJV. As such, it not only shares the KJV's textual shortcomings, but exchanged the ambiguity for readability. Not a good study Bible, but one I managed to cruise through, cover to cover, begats & all, when I was 15. It's a trip everybody in Western culture should take at least once. This version makes it far less daunting than it used to be.
5 stars for readability. 2 stars for the quality of the text. Several more modern translations, such as the NIV, make much better compromises....

A veteran financial news journalist and former Wall Street Journal reporter, Lynnette began writing a weekly syndicated newspaper column called "Financially Fit" in April 2003. Before that, Lynnette worked as a television reporter at CNBC, where she filed weekly segments on personal finances and investing, and conducted online chat sessions on CNBC.com.

Lynnette frequently appears on NBC’s Early Today show. She has also been the Personal Finance Columnist/Editor for Dow Jones Newswires, a correspondent for the Philadelphia Inquirer, a writer for a FOX-TV affiliate in Philadelphia, and a reporter for the Associated Press in Los Angeles. Additionally, Lynnette is a dynamic public speaker who gives educational workshops and lectures about financial planning, money management, and investing.

Basic, yes, but invaluable for many people

There are so many books which offer advice on investments and this is one of the best. At the outset, I presume to share some lessons I have learned over the years which seem relevant to Khalfani's suggestions as to how to "conquer 30 costly mistakes and multiply your wealth." First, the importance of systematic savings. Next, the importance of compounded interest on what we save. Finally, the importance of having a realistic plan for increasing one's net worth through systematic savings and the compound interest accumulated by it. Unless and until an individual investor fully appreciates the importance of the first two and then commits to the third, costly mistakes will be made with inevitable (but avoidable) results.
Khalfani organizes her material within five Parts: Strategic Slip-Ups, Buying Blunders, Holding/Monitoring Mishaps, Selling Snafus, and Financial Advisor Foul-Ups. Although each seems to focus on mistakes of judgment, she explains how to avoid the don'ts by doing their opposite. Whereas unsuccessful investors focus on products, successful investors focus on the process of investing. For example, they
* Set specific, measurable, and realistic investment goals (Chapter 1)
* Do not have concentrated wealth (Chapter 9)
* Monitor your investment frequently and rigorously (Chapter 13)
* Have a sell strategy (Chapter 17)
* Take full advantage of all available independent research (Chapter 25)
My guess (only a guess) is that this book will not be of substantial value to sophisticated investors. They and their financial advisors probably know which "costly mistakes" to avoid and how to avoid them. For so many others, however, I think that Khalfani's book will provide the guidance they need to achieve greater success with their investments than would otherwise be possible. As she explains, the investment process involves five distinct phases: strategizing to identify and then meet personal goals, buying the right (i.e. most appropriate) investments, holding and carefully monitoring those investments, selling investments in a judicious and prudent manner, and dealing effectively with intermediaries such as stockbrokers and financial planners. Basic stuff? Yes, of course, but so many private investors are either unaware of this process or (for whatever reasons) lose patience with it.
It remains for each of us to determine what "wealth" means. More to the point, it is our responsibility, indeed our obligation to protect and preserve whatever resources we may have, investing them wherever and whenever most appropriate. If you are among those in need of expert guidance when making such investment decisions, Khalfani's book can be of substantial assistance. However, as she correctly insists, you must first understand the process...and then invest as much of your time and energy may be required before you make investment decisions.

Cogent Advice for Novice Investors

Each year, it seems reams of page are published on the subject of investing. Many are forgettable and some should absolutely be avoided. But a friend told me to check this book out and I was pleasantly surprised. Lynnette Khalfani is a former reporter for "The Wall Street Journal" and CNBC. To her credit, she keeps the chapters short and to the point and ends each with what she refers to as a "$ummary $uccess $tory." The book is clear, concise, and east to read and follow.
Khalfani essentially notes that mistakes made by people in investing are fairly common to the majority of investors. She divides the book into five sections: strategizing your goals, buying, holding, selling, and dealing with investment intermediaries such as stock brokers. She has an easy-to-read, friendly style of writing. The advice is basic, and more sophisticated investors will consider as remedial or average, at best, but for anyone who knows little about investing, it's a great starting point.
Her advice is solid throughout, and the piece of advice she considers most important is particularly good: Don't invest prematurely. By that she means you should have a stash of three-to-six months of expenses, a will, and disability insurance before you dive into investing. If you are new to investing, read this book first, you'll be glad you did.

A Great Resource

Investing Success inspired me to kick start 2004...and to develop a strategy for investing. The book is sophisticated enough to be helpful, concise and well written. The examples Summery Success Strategies at the end of each chapter help me stay focused and on track. Finally, a book that tells you what to do and how to clean up the mess if you've made mistakes.
