Clasic Hydraulic Handbook: A must for the CE library.

This book has been a standard for Civil Engineers for many years and is likely to be found in every civil engineering firm's library. It has timeless information on coeficients for weirs, orifices, and other drainage structures based on laboratory experiments from several sources. The one in our office is well worn and several have purchased their own copy to have at hand. With it, the CE can be confident in the values s/he uses to calculate flow characterisics. The book has several tables that are handy, but are not needed since the advent of the computer and handheld calculator. However, if one is familiar with the tables and has a good head for numbers, the tables allow for quick estimates of flow characteristics without having to hunt for the calculator.

Cannot praise this book enough!

To begin I have already purchased three copies of this book in less than a month. The first was for myself the second two were gifts. I think this book is great for all ages and varying personality types (i.e. artsy, uptight, "no good at stuff like that", wild, vibrant, timid... ANYONE) I have always enjoyed doing creative things... this book has really shown me that I have been restricting myself and has pushed me out of my regular comfort zone. Sensory barriers have been tested for sure, which has not been an altogether unpleasant experience. I was definitely surprised by that! There is a limit to the growth that can happen in your safe, clean and cozy cocoon! Even though there are some kind of disgusting things going on in my journal... it keeps getting more and more pleasant aroma as different ingredients go into it. I also really enjoy how what you do with one page can literally spill over and effect other pages. I have been in this book every day since I got it, more than once a day. I will see something or think of something and say ooh I gotta grab the journal. Although I am working on the prompts in random order (or course) I found it helpful to skim through the "instructions" once through before I did anything else. It's really quite an experience and hopefully you learn things here that can open you up creatively or just breaking any perfectionist tendencies you may suffer. This is either the best or worst thing for OCD-types!!! Maybe the best and worst thing! Like I said, I think there is something to be found in this book/experience for absolutely anyone.

WARNINGS: This book may be seriously addictive to some users. It is likely to deter your attention from other things you "should" be doing and even make more work for you than the work that you are ignorning while do just a little more wrecking. You will make a mess of this book. You will make a mess of yourself, your home, your clothes, etc. etc. If people do not already consider you crazy, they will after they see you working on the wreckage mission. Possible reactions include acting out of normal character, experiencing delight and pride, needing to wash your hands every time you touch the journal, rash and unpredictable actions and results. You could also become dizzy if you breathe too heavy with the glue and any chemical substances used in the wrecking of this book. You may be compelled to buy multiple copies of the book to share with family and friends. This book could actually change your life, I know it has mine. You may see things different in the world and notice art possibilities and inspiration all around you.

In conclusion... The paper does not taste good. You may find a blowdryer handy, on either the hot or cool settings. If you cannot figure out where to begin, I highly recommend the coffee page and or cracking the spine. Both very helpful for those used to taking good care of books. I would love to share some pics of my journal however, it's presently tied up in the bathroom sink. Perhaps another time!

I never even realized I was creative until this book came around. I absolutely love the idea of being able to do WHATEVER you want with this book. This book will save your life, it decreases anxiety and increased my excitement about life. If you are debating purchase please don't anymore!! It's 10$ at first but turns into a priceless item!

Love those Halflings

The Halflings are back! What could be cooler than a free short story while we wait for the release of Guardian? This one features that candy-loving hottie, Vine. In A Halflings Rescue, the Halflings are off to rescue a teenage movie star. The story's fun and snappy with great illustrations--we get to see the whole gang together. The first two chapters of Guardian are included as well. I'm hooked.

It's YA, not Rocket Science...

I love this series by Heather Burch. They are written well for the young adult genre. Halflings are half angels and half human, not necessarily an original concept but not lame either. Honestly when my husband saw I was reading it he thought it was possibly part of the D&D interest.

This book is the third, technically. There was an introduction 11:15 The Making of a Halfling ([...] this introduced us to the series and the characters. The first full length book Halflings ([...] and then to this short. This short really has very little to do with the story as a whole, it is more as a filler to keep or generate more interest in the series. That said, I believe it has done a good job at that.

A Halflings Rescue is where the team comes together and basically works as a crime fighting group and rescue a teen celebrity. There is drama. There is intrigue. There are 'hotties'. The writing is strong. The characters have personalities and they don't get in the way of the story. The only concern might be is if you have not read the two prior books there is reference to existing issues that might confuse the reader. This will not distract you from enjoying the entire story though.

One of the biggest criticisms I have read about this series is that the 'angels' are to pretty and it has tones of 'Twilight'. The issue with that is that these books are based on biblical accounts of angels and in that instant, they are beautiful. I look at it as they are attractive but not to the point that EVERYBODY is swooning over them. Other than that, this series is YA, that is teen. The series is written for entertainment.

I dont normally do novellas as I dont really think they bring much to the story. That is until I really started reading them! Now Im addicted. This one is a little side story in the halflings world and is a deff not to miss!
